We have all been there, a tough day turns
into a tough week and before you know it you are feeling s certain amount of
stress and strain that doesn’t seem to be lifting anymore. You feel like you
are carrying it with you wherever you go, and that there is a constant black
cloud hanging over your head.
Even times out with friends, walking or
doing the things you usually enjoy and are usually grateful for have stopped
mattering to you, and in fact do not have any impact on your moods anymore!
Are you worried that you are never going to
be happy again? Concerned that you will need to change careers to get out of
this mind-set?
Worry not! There is no need for such
drastic action, in fact work stress is not the catalyst anymore, although it
may have been the trigger for the way that you are feeling right now, it was
just that… the trigger.
When something makes us feel bad and we
keep dwelling on it instead of fixing it, our thinking gets confused and
changes to negative. It is very easy to end up feeling this way by reverting
back to old thinking, as we all know, thoughts become things, so you are
essentially creating your own depressing reality by allowing yourself to keep
on this destructive though path.
Remember “This too shall pass” But not
without a little bit of work from you! You need to change your thoughts! Once
you have altered your thinking back to positive, you will soon see that life will
become lighter and easier again, and you will lose that black cloud you have!
You can use 3 simple steps to start to
change your thinking:
Awareness – Becoming aware of your thoughts
is key to changing them, try catching your first thought and change it into a
positive one
Rational Thinking – Analyse your thoughts
and decide whether they are rational or not, if they are not then you need to
get rid of them, only keep rational thoughts that serve you at the time in your
head. Don’t waste time on pointless thoughts!
Keep it simple – Don’t over think your
thoughts, or over analyse the reasons you are having them, this will just
confuse you and make life even more difficult.
Just know that you are the keeper if your
thoughts, you and you alone have the power to change the way you think, the way
you feel and the path your life takes!
So if you have had a particularly stressful
week, try and take time to relax this weekend and gently try to change your
thinking so that you can start to feel better and look forward to a whole new
week next week!
Good luck!
