Affirmation Pitfalls

When you begin your journey to financial freedom with Dollars Want Me, you will start using daily affirmations, these may be the ones provided to you, or those you write yourself.

Affirmations are wonderful little sayings that you will repeat to yourself several times during the day, they will embed themselves in your subconscious mind, and alter habits, behaviour, actions and reactions, in turn helping you to create the life you want.

But, before you get started you should be aware of these pitfalls that are easy to fall into:

Writing your affirmations in the future tense

This is dangerous as you will always be telling yourself that you will achieve what you want in the future, and although this provides hope, hope actually keeps our dreams one step ahead, never bringing them to the present.

Affirming with words that do not promote feelings

Emotion is an amazing motivator, and when we write affirmation, we need to feel like we want to take action. Without feelings we are just repeating words that will not get us any closer to our goals. When your affirmations are just words and you are secretly disbelieving that it could ever happen, they are useless to you.

Not repeating affirmations

It is no good to write an affirmation and not say it, or saying it once a day and wondering why nothing has happened. We train our minds by repetition, and also build habits at the same time, so remember repetition of affirmations is key!

Not taking action

If you just repeat the affirmation over and over, but are always in the “preparation” stage of change, you will never achieve what you want to. It’s time to let go of the fear and take the plunge!

Doubt

Affirmations are all about trust and faith, if you do not have faith in what you are saying and you are not believing what you say is true, your affirmations will never work, regardless of how often you say them.

Remember “Believing Makes it So”

Next time we will discuss: How you can attract what wants you in life. Join me on Friday 30th January to find out more!
